Well for some curious reason March turned out to be a really busy month. A lot happened, and I have a lot of great images to show of life in Tequis and beyond. The highlight was undoubtedly the trip to a remote corner of the state of Michoacan to see the winter resting place of the Monarch butterflies; the southerly point of their fantastic migration from Canada. There were so many things to show and say from this weekend that the trip deserves a page to itself. CLICK HERE to view.
Whilst on the subject of wildlife, the humming bird in the photo above, flew into my house on two consecutive Sundays.

March was a great month for fairs. On St Patrick's day we had our school Fair. A rather different affair (if you'll excuse the pun) to those I had been used to in England. Here parents and friends paid to set up their own stalls and there were other features such as local dancing etc. I found myself working at the bar with colleague Phil and had a thoroughly good day practising my Spanish.
March meant more school geology club trips into the wilds near Tequisquiapan. Here is a photo of Valentina tackling this very prickly subject.

The fair at school coincided with the fair in town. The Feria Del Toro De lidia began on the Saturday with a bullfight which I did not attend you might be glad to know, and it pretty much ended with a rodeo the following week, which I did attend. In between there was a great atmosphere with different music in the plaza every night.
Towards the end of the month I gathered permission slips together and took my older classes Years 8 and 9 just outside the school grounds to do some drawing. Although rich in different plant forms, the children were initially more excited by the couple of dead dogs that they discovered.
At the time of this art class some of the cacti were beginning to put on a floral display.
